Medical-Objects is proud to announce that its secure messaging platform now supports direct submission of diagnostic imaging reports to the Queensland Cancer Register (QCR). This functionality is in place ahead of the new mandatory cancer notification requirements that took effect on 2 May 2025, under amendments to the Public Health Act 2005 (Qld).

Supporting Legislative Compliance Across Queensland

Under the Health and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023, all public and private diagnostic imaging practices in Queensland are now required to notify the QCR of certain imaging procedures. These include:

  • Procedures indicating that a person has, had, or may have had cancer

  • Cancer-related follow-up imaging procedures

Notifications must be submitted within 30 days of finalising a validated report, using the approved HL7 message format.

Medical-Objects Makes It Easy

Medical-Objects has collaborated with Cancer Alliance Queensland (CAQ) to ensure compatibility with the QCR’s infrastructure. Practices already connected to Medical-Objects can seamlessly transmit reports to QCR in the correct format no new system required.

This capability provides radiology providers with a low-effort, secure, and compliant solution for meeting the new reporting requirements.
